Drilling Fluid Solutions

Drilling fluids, also known as drilling mud, are used to help with the drilling process in a number of ways, including: 

Cooling and lubricating: Drilling fluids cool and lubricate the bit and drilling assembly.

Suspending cuttings: Drilling fluids suspend and release cuttings.

Controlling pressure: Drilling fluids help control formation pressures.

Stabilizing rock: Drilling fluids stabilize exposed rock.

Providing buoyancy: Drilling fluids provide buoyancy.

Water-based fluids: The most common type of drilling fluid, used in about 80% of wells. The base fluid can be fresh water, seawater, brine, or other types. 

Invert emulsion mud: A stable emulsion of water droplets in oil, this type of fluid is good for drilling in challenging environments. 

Oil-based drilling fluids: Another type of drilling fluid. 

Silicate-based drilling mud: Another type of drilling fluid.
